Eight of world’s 10 worst countries to be a mother are in Sub-Saharan Africa, recent report shows

19 May 2011 - International child-rights NGO Save the Children has recently released its 2011 ‘State of the World’s Mothers’ annual report analyzing 164 countries. Health, education and economic conditions were the main three categories against which the countries were assessed. According to the report, Norway is the best place in the world for children and mothers to live. Afghanistan, with the worst conditions and the lack of opportunities, ranks last. In Norway virtually every birth is attended by skilled health personnel, while in Afghanistan professional care is provided to only 14 percent of women giving birth. Children on the Move Conference videos available on GMC website

Barcelona, 4 May 2011 - The GMC has recently released two videos on the I International Conference on Children on the Move, held in Barcelona on October 5-7 last year. The first one offers a 5 minute overview of the conference, with images of the children and speakers that took part; the second one (part 1, 2, 3) is a thirty-minute long introductory video to the issue of Children on the Move itself using selected footage of conference speakers and concepts discussed at the gathering. Preparing a consultation on the Commitment to Children Audit

Barcelona, 2 May 2011 - Following last month’s meeting in Florence, the Commitment to Children Audit (CCA) is now finalising its definitional process of its draft concept note before consultation.
